A select band of 22 Squadron Association members attended the Reunion this year. All had a most enjoyable and rewarding weekend.

The 2010 Reunion (our 9th) took on a now familiar format. Those fortunate enough to be able to start on the Friday afternoon quickly got into the spirit of the event; starting before dinner, which was an informal gathering set in a separate room, and finishing early? in the bar around 2.00 on Saturday morning.
After breakfast, the ""historic few"" set off for the Yorkshire Helicopter Preservation Group at the Aeroventure Museum in Doncaster (www.helicopter-preservation-yhpg.org.uk) where we were met and hosted admirably by members of the Group.
In the afternoon, we joined the remainder of members attending the reunion who had gathered in the bar and had to be prised out to attend the AGM; which was highlighted by a most interesting talk given by Denis Clough of his recent return visit to the Squadron's war time bases in Sri Lanka (Ceylon) and television footage from a BBC programme which featured Eric Smith's G.M. award winning rescue from the fishing vessel Jeanne Gougy on 3 November 1962.
The main event, the Reunion Dinner, started with Denis Clough's presenting the award given to him by the Sri Lankan Air Force, to honour the Squadron's war-time achievements, to Squadron Leader Paul Bolton who received it on behalf of 22 Squadron.
The dinner was excellent with good food and convivial company and (again) lasted into the small hours.
There were a few bleary eyes visible at breakfast on Sunday morning before we dispersed; looking forward to an equally successful reunion in 2011.

One member sent the following email:

Paul, a quick burst of praise and appreciation for you and your team following the very successful Reunion of very old people at Derby last w/e.
As you are aware, we are not regular attenders at these gatherings, so it was all the more enjoyable for us to meet old friends and discover that they too had aged almost beyond recognition. We thought that the hotel was a very good choice and we could not fault the service or the food. Please convey our thanks to all involved in the organisation and presentation of a hugely successful event.
